Rise of Hidden Pyramid | Postmortem and Game Design Document


During the development of this game, our team has learned a lot.

Everything can be summed up with some maybe obvious, but certainly useful lessons for us, and hopefully for someone else too: 


1. Constantly communicate your progress and thoughts with your partners. 

2. Deliver and learn to receive constructive advice. 

3. Do not keep any negative thought for yourself, as they will grow and worsen the situation. 

4. Find strategies to motivate your team and believe in your project.

5. Make 100% sure that your team members really want to participate in your project right at its start. Never blindly trust anyone’s conviction on a group work.

6. Sticking with features you think as core might be counterproductive if they are actually not that relevant and quite costly or dangerous to implement

7. Take advantage of any adverse situation to push your limits. It will prove useful in the future.



Most of these are directed towards team projects, though motivation or taking advantage of adverse situations are also crucial at solo developing.

And we would also advise to solo developers to look for a team. Yes, we've had problems with some members, but what we have achieved together the ones that remained is greater than what we could have gotten alone.

Work hard to achieve your objectives. It will be worth it. And nothing will stop you.
